The concept of Slotmeister Slot Racing Events was born when international motoring journalist Michael Stahl bought a model car from the window of a Paris hobby shop in 2003.
Stahl was impressed with this model’s display-quality detail and the realism of its racing livery.
He hadn’t even realised it was a slot-car – the hobby that he, like countless thousands of children and adults, had enjoyed throughout the 1960s and ’70s.
Slot cars are not only surviving in the age of digital entertainment, they’re thriving.
New modeling, manufacturing and tampo-printing techniques have caused a revolution in quality. Detailed interiors, true-to-life motor placement and “tuneable” handling – some cars featuring suspension, even all-wheel drive – have taken the realism well beyond the visual.
